A Triple Celebration for Gordon St Coffee - Great Taste Awards
The team at Gordon St Coffee is delighted to be celebrating a fantastic achievement: our Glasgow Roast, Edinburgh Roast and House Blend have all received prestigious Great Taste Awards.
These awards mean a great deal to everyone across our Glasgow and Edinburgh teams. Each of our coffees is carefully developed and roasted in small batches, with close attention paid to quality, consistency and flavour. To have three of our signature blends recognised by the Great Taste judges is a proud moment and a brilliant reward for the passion and expertise that go into every batch.
Our Glasgow Roast was praised as a “thoughtfully-blended mix”, bringing together beans from four different origins to create a complex yet cohesive coffee. The judges discovered notes of warm chocolate, crisp white wine and subtle fruitiness, along with a clean, gentle finish. When served with milk, they found that its milk-chocolate character became even sweeter, creating a fuller and smoother mouthfeel.
The Edinburgh Roast also impressed with its balance and depth. Its freshly ground beans were described as having a deeply chocolatey aroma, while the coffee delivered a clever combination of bright acidity, moderate bitterness and sweetness. With milk, the blend became even more indulgent, bringing forward sweet chocolate and hazelnut flavours. The resulting flat white was described as “cleverly balanced” with a long, satisfying finish.
Completing our award-winning trio is the Gordon St House Blend. The judges highlighted its mellow chocolate character, cacao nib notes and ripe stone-fruit flavours, which were described as almost plum-like. Adding milk enhanced the coffee’s natural sweetness and produced a wonderfully balanced flat white with a dulce de leche finish. Most importantly, the judges called it a real “crowd-pleaser” and a great example of a house espresso.
Winning these awards is especially exciting because the three coffees represent the heart of what we do at Gordon St Coffee. They are familiar favourites enjoyed every day by our customers, whether served in our coffee shop, brewed at home or shared with friends and family.
The win is especially poignant, given the difficult year we’ve had and the temporary closure of our Glasgow roastery following the Union Street fire in March.
